More about full lace wig…

There wigs and then there are lace wigs. Now there are two types of lace wigs.

Lace Front Wig

Both wig types are available in two versions – with natural human and artificial hair.

Naturally (no pun intended), natural wig is more expensive than the artificial one.

The basic difference between a full lace and lace front wig is the way they are constructed and worn.

As the name suggests, a "full" lace wig has a full sheer lace base, while a front lace wig has a base that covers only the front of the head, where your hairline can be seen.

The remaining part of the front hairpiece is made of a stronger material and so less likely to rip or tear than full lace.

"Full" lace wig can be worn in different hairstyles like a high ponytail, piled up on the top of the head and pinned up.

Unfortunately, a front lace wig only allows you to part your hair as you want.

You will not be able to tie your wig into a ponytail as that will expose the fact that you have a wig on!

WigsExpert Tip#1
Not all full lace wigs are made equal. Some are of a better quality than others.
It’s important to know the difference between cheaper and quality wigs.

Get to know your full lace wig…

Check the hairline of the full lace wig. This feature is very important. A full lace hairpiece should be able to create the impression of a natural hairline.

Avoid hair wigs with an expanded hairline as this will give you an unnatural appearance.

Since, natural hair grows progressively; meaning it is thinner at the hairline and thickest at the top of the head, a hairpiece that has a heavy hairline will need to be tweezed to the desired hair density.

It’s important to remember that if you remove more hair than necessary, you will not be able to put them back yourself.

You’ll have to take the wig back to the shop where you purchased it from to get the necessary changes.

WigsExpert Tip#2
Make sure you are able to see the wig hairline and ensure that all extra hair are kept away.
Tweeze one hair strand at a time starting from the first row and move along tweezing alternate rows to avoid over plucking.
Slow and steady does it best and keep trying on the wig to make sure that you have reached the desired density level.

Stick it on…

Wigs are attached to the head with the help of glue or adhesive. A good adhesive holds the hairpiece securely and strongly.

So investing in a good quality adhesive is very important. The glue should be skin friendly and as natural as possible.

Most adhesives come in liquid form and need to be applied in thin and even coats.

WigsExpert Tip#3
Apply the liquid glue as you would apply paint on a wall…evenly with horizontal and vertical strokes.
For extra adhesive, apply several thin coats but make sure you allow the previous coat to dry thoroughly before painting the next layer of glue.

Remember that glue is always applied on the scalp and never to the lacey base.

Protect your scalp using a skin shield and then attach the lace wig.

A skin shield acts as a protective layer against skin irritation, while giving added strength to a dermatologists approved liquid glue or tape adhesive.

Wearing a full lace wig cannot just give you a completely different look, it can also bolster your self confidence and self esteem almost like a new hairstyle.

There can be many reasons why you may prefer to wear a natural wig including medical or cosmetic reasons.

Never one to judge, wearing a full lace wig is definitely better than wearing a lace front wig as it allows you more flexibility and freedom to create unique and interesting hairstyles just like with your own natural hair.
